BATB score: 9/10 🟡
Kazuo Ishiguro, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, writes books as an art form.
Best to: intellectually stimulating about figuring out the world and our purpose in life
Best for: a literature class required read, a literature book club, an English Literature scholar read; Ishiguro's writings are exceptional. it's more about the narration of the story, the hidden humanity behind, and the social dilemmas of 'told but not told'
Best as: "Never Let Me Go" was made into a movie in 2010 (7.1/10 iMDb score); damn, his other book "The Remains of the Day" is also art and was made into a movie in 1993 (7.8/10 iMDb score)
Best quote: “and I saw a little girl, her eyes tightly closed, holding to her breasts the old kind world, one that she knew in her heart cannot remain, and she was holding it and pleading, never to let her go.“
