BATB score: 9/10 🙏

Best as: it’s a holocaust survivor’s memoir plus a self-help guide to happiness - a 2-in-1 combo! so this book does not end once he has escaped Auschwitz but continues on with how he doesn’t hate Hitler and how his biggest revenge is “to be the happiest man on earth”

Best to: check out Eddie Jaku’s 11-minutes TedX Talk “A Holocaust survivor’s blueprint for happiness” it is pretty much what the whole book is about

BATB lingering thought: so Eddie Jaku wrote a book and did a TedX Talk at 99 years old, can I do all of that when I am 99?

Best for: he’s happy and he lived to be 101 years old “Young people today forget to stop. They're constantly running and don't know where they're running to. Tomorrow will come, but first you must enjoy today.”

Best quotes: “There are many things in this world that no amount of money will buy you, and some things priceless beyond measure. Family first, family second, and family at the last.”

“Having even just one good friend mean that the world takes on new meaning. One good friend can be your entire world.”

“Happiness does not fall from the sky; it is in your hands. Happiness comes from inside yourself and from the people you love. And if you are healthy and happy, you are a millionaire.”

“May you always have lots of love to share, lots of good health to spare, and lots of good friends who care.”

“Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.”
