BATB score: 8.8/10 ⭐️
A complete collection of all the popular social psychology fallacy out there. Trust me, this is the only social psychology book you'll ever need to own / to read.
Best to: know that David McRaney refers to Daniel Kahneman "Thinking Fast and Slow" and to Dan Ariely "Predictably Irrational" while both Daniel and Dan referred back to David; seems like a small social psychologist community eh?
Best for: if you have not explored any social psychology book or behavioural economics book, this single book has all you need 💯
Best as: the book's cover is definitely clickbait - fell head over heels desperate to buy it
The book has 48 chapters covering 48 social psychology fallacies... kinda like an encyclopedia
**Nerd Alert**
My favourite fallacies:
The Just-World Fallacy: "You want the world to be fair, so you pretend it is."
Selling Out: "Both consumerism and capitalism are driven by competition among consumers for status. Poor people compete with resources. The middle class competes with selection. The wealthy competes with possessions."
Learnt Helplessness: "If you have experienced crushing defeat, you convince yourself over time that there is no escape, and if escape is offered, you will not act - you become a nihilist who trusts futility above optimism."
