BATB score: 3.5/10 🥵
*Reader Discretion Advised* a thick ass excruciatingly detailed, boring and complex explanation of pre-Immelt, Immelt's 16 years as CEO of General Electrics, and post-Immelt - and every single damn thing that happened in between #painful #JeffImmelt
I gave up at page 80/312.
Best to: this book reminds you of the agony and discomfort of going MBA case discussions - so what has the CEO done wrong that led to the fall of General Electrics throughout his 16 years of reign?
Best for: honestly, I feel for Jeff Immelt. This book was written to rub salt in his wounds, to exemplify his mistakes and flawed leadership, and truthfully to shame him. It's always easier to be a critic than a creator. I believe all of us would have fucked up the same if we were in his shoes.
p.s. that epilogue titled "Jeff is a friend" didn't help
Best as: General Electrics is such a so yesterday case study; definition of business disruptions then vs now are not that applicable
