BATB score: 3/10 😔

oh my god shut up please

Best as: a white entitled american auntie repeating ā€œLet Themā€ 850 times and ā€œLet Meā€ 575 times

BATB lingering thought: I am going to Let Her write and love this book; and I am going to Let Me complaining about it on BATB. The chapters on finding love were exponentially cringey.

Best to: search Mel Robbins on Instagram and watch maximum 3 reels [one for the core Let Them theory, one for the Friendship theory (proximity, timing, energy) and one for the Adults Throwing Tantrums] and call it a do did done deal

Best for: if you are learning English as a second/third language, elementary school writing style, word choice 1-2 syllables, the most difficult word is ā€œproximityā€, simple sentence structure, repetitive and some times rhymes like a children book

Best quotes: ā€œWhen you stop obsessing over what other people think, say, or do, you finally have the energy to focus on your own life.ā€

ā€œIt’s so easy to get yourself so stressed out about life that you forget the entire point is to live it.ā€

ā€œThe more you let other people live their lives, the better your life gets.ā€

ā€œYou’re going to realize that your parents aren’t going to be here forever, and that this was their first time as a human being too.ā€

ā€œYou get one wild and precious life, so go live it in a way that makes you proud.ā€

ā€œTo become a ā€œcasualā€ friend, you have to spend 74 hours with someone; to become a ā€œcloseā€ friend, you have to spend over 200 hours with someone.ā€

ā€œThere are certain people who are meant to be in your life for a season. There are people that are meant to be in your life for a specific reason. And there will be people who will be with you for a lifetime.ā€

ā€œNo one gets sober until being drunk is more painful than facing the thing you are running from.ā€

ā€œWhen you say Let Them, you accept people as they are, and you accept their behavior as the truth. When you say Let Me, you choose how love shows up in your life.ā€
