BATB score 6.6/10 š“
Started out exceptionally strong on the basics to business and blitzscaling; unfortunately, things went downhill from Part III onwardsā¦
Best to: Reid Hoffman is a legit business guru who writes well in conveying business concepts; from his latest 2021 work āMasters of Scaleā, this oldie 2018 book proves that Hoffman does write better every year or so
Best for: business students as university course required read - a perfect mixture of principles, business jargons, case studies, legit concepts, and sleepy verbose blah blah
Best as: was going to recommend it as a venture capitalist, start-up entrepreneurial book club monthly read; sadly, though pages 1-120 were good stuff š¤©, pages 121-300 were huge meh bleh š
Best quotes: āyou need new people with new skills as you grow.ā
āGrow fast or die slow.ā
āIf your playbook is the same as your competitorās, you are in trouble, because chances are they are just going to run your playbook with a lot more resources.ā
āA good product with great distribution will almost always beat a great product with poor distribution.ā
āDo everything by hand until itās too painful, then automate it.ā
āThere are no job descriptions for founders. If the role doesnāt change, thereās something wrong.ā
āHire Ms. RIGHT NOW, not Ms. Right; you need managers and executives who are ājust rightā for the current phase of growth, after all, you wonāt have to worry about the next phase if your team canāt actually get you there.ā #bookstagram #reidhoffman
