BATB score: 2/10 😡
you’ve wasted my time *said with an intimidating resting bitch face* please go zen away from me
Best as: this is not how you introduce Buddhism to busy people; this is how you pissed off busy people with your repetitive writing style, softie storytelling, and weakest Buddhism pitch
Best to: hire a very good ghost writer, re-write this book to a third of the size, get to the point don’t waste time, raise only your killer best stories, gain better street cred to bluff some ethos to justify pitching to busy career-driven people
Best for: busy people can skip this; the author, David Michie is a corporate communications consultant and a Buddhist practitioner in Australia, dude, Australians are not “busy people” 🙄
BATB lingering thought: and that is why religion “Buddhism” is old school lame and thus “wellness” is a more affable pitch
Best quotes: “the relentless striving to succeed, the wearying knowledge that no matter how far you go, there is always so much further”
“Eventually we discover that the true nature of our mind is nothing except pure clarity, awareness - and bliss.”
“First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.”
