BATB score: 6/10 šŸ’ƒšŸ» šŸ•ŗ

*great book title šŸ‘ metaphorically descriptive and conclusive: men and women are polar opposites šŸŖā˜„ļø

Best as: written by a relationship counselor back in 1992; 33 years later, a lot of the premises are still true

Best to: however, gender-role association may not be that straightforward; there’s more than two genders now and gender-role characteristics are more fluid

BATB lingering thought: and that’s why we need marriage counseling (and maybe that’s why it is easier to have a homosexual relationship)

Best for: if you believe your couple needs marriage counseling, this book is a good start to restart

Best quotes: ā€œmen mistakenly offer solutions and invalidate feelings while women offer unsolicited advice and directionā€

ā€œmen are motivated when they feel needed while women are motivated when they feel cherishedā€

ā€œa man is fulfilled through working out the intricate details of solving a problem, a woman is fulfilled through talking about the details of her problemsā€

ā€œMen primarily need trust, acceptance, appreciation, admiration, approval, and encouragement. Women primarily need caring, understanding, respect, devotion, validation, and reassurance.ā€
